The Parable of the Baby Elephant

Have you heard of the parable of the baby elephant who was chained to a small tree?

It tried to pull itself free, but couldn’t. Overtime, it learned that struggling was pointless. Eventually it grew into an adult elephant who could effortlessly uproot the small tree, but because it had failed so many times before, stopped trying.

I often see both parents and children succumb to the chains of chronic stress and past failures in similar ways. For children, their “I can't” become “I won’t”. For parents, positive and gentle methods give way to a cycle of power struggles, punishments, or emotional detachment. (No judgment as I have also fallen into this cycle!)

Just like the growing elephant, we all learn to adapt to our surroundings or to live within its confines. The good news is that we can also unlearn and explore possibilities we haven't considered before or were too skeptical to try.

With permission, I am sharing a snippet of Heather's renewed belief in herself and her son as a result of our work together and the changes that followed.

Through our 8-week online Chaos to Calm program, she gained the skills to advocate for herself and her son, strengthen their relationship, build confidence in herself and her son, and take actionable steps to turn challenges into opportunities for skill-building--again for both herself and her son.

So how does Chaos to Calm help and why join?

  • Evidence-based strategies and practical tools: you'll learn to implement strategies to decrease or prevent persistent challenges, increase positive interactions with your child, and grow their emotional resilience.

  • Community support: navigating struggles with other parents speeds up and compounds learning. Accountability and troubleshooting together is powerful for gaining momentum and experiencing changes quickly.

  • One-on-one support: we support you, the parent, who then supports your child. This is were empowerment begins!

  • Once you join, you become a "lifer". Because parenting is an ongoing journey, not a destination, we continue to meet monthly. This allows parents to continue to grow the skills needed to support their children and address new challenges as they arise.

Remember, there is no single, magic bullet to fix challenges overnight. However, by investing in your growth, learning, and skills as a parent, you'll be empowered to make a meaningful difference in your child’s life and success, not just short-term, but long-term.

Let’s embark on this journey together. If you’d like to learn more, please reach out here to schedule a call: https://www.carolinefitsimonescoaching.com/book-online

Cheering you on,
